HEXENNACHT //
🖐fatty butter + clay
👃lush greenery, dripping fig and honey, damp earth, bittersweet chocolate
In Germanic lore, witches would gather on the Brocken, a sacred mountaintop connecting the earthly with the divine, on April 30th, to usher in the arrival of spring with naked dancing and revelry; orgies evoking the fertility, sensuality, and new life of spring; sacrifices to ensure healthy crops; and blazing bonfires. As the region became Christianized, locals began to pray to Saint Walpurga to protect them from "evil" on Witches' Night, build bonfires and make noise to ward off witches from the skies above. Walpurgisnacht is a reminder of the stigmatization of pagans, many of whom were killed for their beliefs and practices. Sadly, throughout history, those who defied social norms were often labeled as malevolent and demonic creatures. In modern times, LaVeyan Satanists revere Hexennacht as a high holiday where victims of superstition and pseudoscience are honored. Elsewhere, Walpurgisnacht is a festive time when families gather and enjoy treats and pranks. Walpurgisnacht stories are common in German literature - you'll find mentions in everything from the Grimm brothers' stories to Bram Stoker. Additionally, there are pages of literature on the rich history of witchcraft in different cultures, as "witch" is quite a broad term - please do seek out the perspective of practitioners and look critically into how and why those who practice magic have been recipients of injustice and violence.
This bestselling signature slime celebrates the sensual pleasures of springtime and witchcraft's strong ties with the natural world. It features my fatty butter texture in marbled skintone hues, speckled with opulent gold and copper pigments, a reminder that nature is to be treasured more than gold. It's topped with a glorious handcrafted vulva "flower", each uniquely formed, marbled in various skintones -- as well as leaf fimos. It's scented a captivating and complex blend of damp earth and lush greenery from which the most wonderful earthly pleasures bloom: dripping fig and honey, and bittersweet chocolate.
