What is slime? How do you use it?
In scientific terms, slime is a non-Newtonian fluid made from glue and sodium borate. Slime sometimes act like a a solid and sometimes act like a liquid, depending on the force you apply to it.
It's also a fun multi-sensory toy that can help with stress-relief and relaxation!
Slime is meant to be poked, prodded, stretched, squished, and crunched. There's no right way to play with slime, but if you are curious how we do it, check out our Instagram for videos of us playing with our slime!

Do you accept orders placed outside of the US?
Yes! Shipping prices are determined by USPS. If you do not see your country listed, please reach out.

How long will it take to receive my order?
All orders will be shipped within 1-5 business days. Orders placed on Saturday, Sunday, and on federal holidays will be processed as though they were placed the following business day.
You are responsible for entering your correct and current address. Old or incorrect addresses will not be refunded if already shipped, or may be canceled and refunded prior to shipment at the owner's discretion.
Once shipped, most domestic orders take anywhere from 2 to 10 business days to arrive depending on the efficiency of your local postal service. International orders may take longer. Please refer to your tracking number to see where your products are at.

My package is lost in the mail or arrived damaged! What do I do?
While lost and damaged packages occur infrequently, they do happen occasionally, especially when mail services are strained.
If you find that your package hasn't arrived yet, please be aware that tracking updates can sometimes be slow, especially with USPS. We recommend checking the tracking information periodically, as it may update soon.
If your package has not moved for over a week, please reach out to us, and we can assist you in filing a missing mail request.
If you receive a damaged package, you MUST file a claim with USPS in order to receive a refund from them for the value of your package. You can do this easily online at USPS.com
I am not able to file claims for customers because USPS often requires the damaged product to be brought in to a post office for inspection. Once the package is out of my hands, I can't assist with this. Once your claim is processed, you will be refunded by USPS for the amount of your purchase.

I don't like the scent or texture of my slime. Can I get a refund or return it for a different one?
Scent and texture preferences can be highly subjective, so we encourage customers to carefully consider their choices before purchasing.
Unfortunately, all products are final sale and, due to sanitary reasons, may not be returned or exchanged. I do not offer refunds in the event that a customer is unhappy with the scent or texture of a slime. However, I'm happy to offer recommendations for future orders that might better match your preferences!
RE SCENTS:
We strive to create unique and beautifully fragranced slimes that enhance your sensory experience. However, we understand that some customers may find that their slime smells different than expected. This can be due to individual variations in scent perception, which may be influenced by a wide range of factors such as health conditions, personal preferences, and sensitivities. Additionally, a Covid-19 infection can lead to a reduced ability to smell or changes in how smells are perceived, sometimes resulting in a complete loss of smell or a distorted perception of odors in the long-term.While we take great care in crafting our products and providing accurate scent descriptions, we cannot guarantee that every individual will have the same fragrance experience. Due to these reasons, we are unable to offer refunds or exchanges based on scent preferences.
RE TEXTURES:
A customer's experience with a slime's texture can be influenced by various factors, including temperature changes during shipping, the handling of the product, and individual preferences. Some slime textures can be altered to your liking with common household ingredients. If you're experiencing issues with the texture of your slime, please feel free to reach out to us via email. We may be able to provide tips or adjustments to help improve your experience! However, please note that we do not offer refunds in the event that you do not like the texture of your slime. -
What is your return and exchange policy?
All products are final sale and, due to sanitary reasons, may not be returned or exchanged.
All products are shipped with tracking and are packaged securely. Once the product is shipped, it is out of our hands, and we are not responsible for missing packages that have been issued a tracking number.
East Bay Slimes is not responsible for damaged, lost, or late parcels as a result of USPS.
Please note that our slime is a handmade product, made in small batches. Though every effort is made to represent our products accurately, there may be slight differences between batches in color, texture, and scent strength. Add-ins, such as glitter or fimos, may slightly vary in texture, color, and amount. DIY clay pieces are made by hand and may vary slightly in size, shape, and color.
Heat and cold during the shipping process can affect slime. Please refer to our FAQ for tips on how to fix melted or tough slime, or reach out to us if you need assistance.

I accidentally ordered something I didn't want! Can I change my order after it has been placed?
Due to our commitment to fast processing and shipping, we typically begin packing orders as soon as they are received. Unfortunately, this means we are unable to accommodate order changes once the order has been placed. We appreciate your understanding!

Can I get a discount or deal on any of the slimes? Is there any special promo codes?
The prices in our shop are set, and our shop platform unfortunately does not currently support the use of promo codes.
However, we periodically have sales to make room for new collections, so be sure to check back often! In these cases, I will manually adjust prices to reflect a % discount.

Do your slimes include borax?
Yes, all East Bay Slimes are made with borax. Please do not purchase if you are allergic to borax.

What is in your slime? Allergens?
All East Bay Slimes are made with school-grade craft supplies as well as cosmetic grade and body-safe ingredients. However, sensitive skin may experience allergic reactions. Do not play with slime if you are allergic to borax, glue, shaving cream, instant snow, cornstarch, baby oil, lotion, soap, food coloring, acrylic paint, cosmetic grade pigments, and/or fragrances/essential oils.

What is slime activator and how do I make it?
A slime activator is necessary to create and maintain the chemical reaction that results in slime.
You may use boric acid (Borax) to make your own activator. If you would like us to include Borax in your order, you must add the "Extras" listing to your cart and choose the "With Borax" option.
To make activator, add: 1 teaspoon borax + 1 cup water. Store in a labeled bottle.
Before playing with your slime, test it with one finger to see if it is sticky. In case of stickiness, add and mix in tiny drops of activator at a time until it is not sticky anymore.
BE CAREFUL: Slime gets overactivated very easily!

The slime I ordered is...
...hard? Add a little lotion, glue, or patience. Slime naturally softens over time!
...sticky? Add activator in small amounts! Knead until smooth.
...still sticky? Not all slimes are meant to be holdable! Some slimes are meant to be played with on surfaces. You can also try poking and handling it quickly.
My cloud slime is...
...hard? Add lotion or glue to soften it!
...crumbling? Add activator in small amounts & knead until smooth.
Time, heat and cold during the shipping process can affect the consistency of slime. Slimes are perishable and will change in consistency with time and use. Please use these tips to achieve desired consistency, or reach out to us if you need help fixing the texture of your slime.

How do I take care of my slime?
Slime has a limited life span.
It is normal for slime to shrink and deflate over time!1. Wash your hands before touching your slime. Dirt and small debris can get caught in your slime and make it not as pleasant to play with. Always play with slime on a clean, hard surface.
2. Poke it with one finger. If it’s sticky, add drops of activator and knead.
3. Always keep your slime in its container when you're not playing with it to prevent it from drying out.
4. Reactivate it frequently so it doesn't get too sticky or melted!
5. Store away from the sun or in a cool place. Slime can melt if it gets too hot, and you'll need to reactivate it with borax solution.

Can I eat slime?
Slime is NOT EDIBLE. Please keep slime out of reach of small children and pets.

Do you wear gloves when making the slimes? What are your hygiene procedures?
Yes; we take hygiene and cleanliness very seriously! We wear clean latex-free gloves throughout the slime-making process, and change them frequently.
Our production area is regularly cleaned and sanitized before and after each slime-making session. We use non-toxic cleaning agents to ensure to our best ability that all surfaces, tools, and equipment are free of contaminants.

I didn't receive a free slime / the extras I wanted
While we occasionally offer sales, we do not offer deals every time. Please refer to our Instagram story or highlights for the most up-to-date info about promotions.
Extras baggies are just that: extra, and subject to availability. You MUST add the "Extras" listing to your cart to receive extras and/or Borax. When you purchase our products, you are purchasing only the product you paid for.

My slime doesn't look the way it does in the photo.
While we make every effort to represent products accurately, the shipping process can sometimes cause slime layers to mix. Color and appearance may vary slightly due to photographic and real-life differences and the handmade nature of the product. We do not accept returns or exchanges due to dissatisfaction with the product appearance or texture.

What should I do if I find a hair or other foreign object in my slime?
While we take great care in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in our production process, accidents can happen. If you discover a hair or any other foreign object in your slime, please take a photo and send us an email so we can take the proper steps to address the issue.
Please note that some slime ingredients (e.g. certain types of clays, pigments, sand, gravel, and rocks) have natural discoloration or dark/colored bits that can appear to be specks of debris. If you find something in your slime that you aren't expecting, please reach out to us so we can help you identify the cause!

How much slime am I getting? How big are your jars?
Unless otherwise specified, I use polypropylene jars that hold 8 oz of slime when filled to the top. I fill my slimes as close to the top as I am able to, and thus I list my slimes as "8 oz" unless otherwise specified. Additional add-ins, such as clay pieces, will increase the ounceage of your slime.

Why are your slimes so expensive?
I set my prices based on the cost of supplies and labor. Many of the unique supplies, fragrances, and add-ins I source are quite pricey. Additionally, as a disabled person who faces challenges in accessing traditional jobs, I believe it's important to honor my labor by charging a price that reflects the energy and time I invest in researching, planning, and producing each slime, along with the detailed write-ups that accompany them.
On a historical note, slime-making is a craft predominantly associated with women and nonbinary individuals, whose labor has historically been undervalued. By pricing my products fairly, I honor not only my own labor but also the broader context of craftsmanship that has often been dismissed.
I completely understand that some may not want to or be able to purchase my slimes due to the price point. I encourage folks who are a fan of the work I do to follow me on social media (Instagram: @eastbayslimes) where I share lots of free written and video content of the things I create.
