SHIKIGAMI’S PAPER PRESERVATION POTION //

✋paper pulp creme
👃parchment, cedarwood, charcoal, rice wine, ink
➕handmade paper by @firmearte (they sent me this beautiful paper long ago, and I wanted to share some of it so others can enjoy! Write a special message or use it in your own crafting. I do not recommend mixing into the slime.)

Born through ritual…bound by magic…your loyalty is as enduring as the wind itself, but your form is oh-so-delicate. For centuries, you’ve served Zeniba in secrecy, carrying out her will with precision and silence – always in the background, never the star. The shikigami must protect, but who protects the shikigami? Do you not deserve a bit of pampering to your corporeal form before it disintegrates once again?

When you’re in need of some fortification, turn to the spirit world’s best-kept-secret: Shikigami’s Paper Preservation Potion!

No longer will you have to rely on another to give your form life; now, the power is in your hands. Just apply, then watch the magic unfold. Your form might be temporary, but your purpose is eternal. Don’t let a tear or crumple diminish your legacy!

Please note: this addition is a fun nod to this slime’s texture and inspiration: “Old-timey quack remedy advertisements directed at the characters from Spirited Away”. While Spirited Away draws from elements of real-life folklore and spirituality, such as shikigami, the characters are fictional, this is fan art, and this paper and slime is NOT intended to be a tool nor an invitation to mimic or appropriate Onmyōdō practices.

Real shikigami originate from Onmyōdō, a Japanese divination practice that blends elements of Taoism, Buddhism, and Shinto. Practitioners, known as onmyōji, were believed to have the power to summon and control shikigami through intricate rituals and ceremonies. Shikigami are often described as invisible formless spirits, only assuming shape when bound to physical objects, such as small folded paper figures. Shikigami were employed for various purposes: acting as protective charms, carrying out curses, spying, or performing tasks that might be too dangerous for humans.
